Her Modesty #WorldHijabDay

Asaalam everyone,

A beautiful woman walks around covered head to toe,
nothing on her face but her sweet smile,
her gaze lowered.
Simplicity is her dress code and comfort is her outcome.
She's fearless and courageous,
and refuses to be oppressed.

Perhaps if her headscarf was a fashion,
she wouldn't be labelled as a terrorist,
or told she is controlled by some wicked man.
When truly, the real oppressors are right under our noses,
demanding us to dress one way, act one way,
"and the modest one's abused,
controlled,
a terrorist."

You think womanhood is defined,
by what you wear and how you wear it,
by the size of your high-heels and your lipstick shade,
when she understands that it means much more than that,
her courage, her conduct, her generosity and deeds,
the knowledge in her mind,
does that not matter more than how you look?
Does that even matter to you at all?
She's a daughter, a mother, an aunt,
a sister, a cousin, a wife,
yet she needs not please anyone but her creator,
Her modesty is her freedom and liberation,
her realisation of the fact that she is not a mere object.

She is the definition of woman-hood.
